Option 3: Cat Cat - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van (full day-12km trekking)
Winding through hilly terrain and past terraced paddy fields, the road from Sapa takes you to Cat Cat cultural village, just 2km from the town. A leisurely walk through the old village offers an overview of the traditional customs and practices of the ethnic Black H’mong. Stop by the stunning waterfall and the vestige of a hydroelectric power station constructed by the French during the colonial era. Follow a dirt trail sneaking through the mountain along a narrow river and enjoy the spectacular scenery until you reach Y Linh Ho village, also home to Black H’mong minority. Head to Muong Hoa Valley, a stunning place boasting the largest terraced rice fields in Sapa. If your visit is between May and October, it will coincide with the local planting and harvest time, a chance to see the local farmers in action. The walk takes you from Lao Chai village of the Black H'mong minority to Ta Van village of the Giay minority with a stop at the local Catholic Church. Drive back to Sapa.
